The Willamette Heritage Center at 1313 Mill St. SE is hosting live local bands on its lawn every other Tuesday evening through the summer. The series, called Music at the Mill, runs 6 to 8 p.m. and features a rotating lineup of Salem-area acts.

The next performance is Tuesday, July 14, featuring THIS The Funk. Dave's Killer Band plays Tuesday, July 28, and Water Street Project closes out the confirmed schedule on Tuesday, Aug. 11. The series opened Tuesday, June 30, with Jake & the Hill People.

The Willamette Heritage Center hosts the concerts in partnership with Lively at the Mill, the on-site restaurant on the historic grounds. Attendees can bring their own chairs and blankets for lawn seating and grab food and drinks from Lively before the music starts.

According to a social media post promoting the series, tickets are $10 online and $15 at the door. Children 12 and under get in free. The center's ticket page is at willametteheritage.org/music-at-the-mill/.

The series continues beyond Aug. 11, with an Instagram promotion indicating performances run through Tuesday, Sept. 8. Additional dates and bands have not been confirmed on the center's official calendar.

'Echoes of '76' exhibit closes Aug. 1

Residents attending the July concerts can also visit the center's special exhibit, "Echoes of '76," which closes Saturday, Aug. 1. The exhibit explores how the surge of historical interest surrounding America's 1976 bicentennial shaped the museum as it exists now. Admission to the exhibit is included with museum entry, and Willamette Heritage Center members get in free, according to the center's calendar listing.

A curator-led tour of the exhibit was held Thursday, July 3, at 10 a.m.
