Oregon's annual Veterans Day ceremony returns to the Capitol Mall in Salem on Wednesday, Nov. 11, at 11 a.m.

The Oregon Department of Veterans' Affairs (ODVA) announced the free public event in a press release. The ceremony will take place at Oregon State Capitol State Park, directly across Court Street from the front entrance of the Capitol Building.

This year's program includes remarks by veterans, service members, state leaders and other dignitaries. Traditional military observances will include a bagpipe performance, presentation of the colors and the national anthem.

ODVA Director Dr. Nakeia Council Daniels said in the announcement that the nation's strength lives in the people who step forward to serve and bring that commitment home to their communities. She invited Oregonians to join the ceremony to honor veterans' service and sacrifices.

The event is open to the public. Uncovered seating will be provided, and accessible pathways and seating areas will be available for those needing accommodations, according to ODVA's Veterans Day events page. Attendees should dress for the weather.

Residents who cannot attend in person can watch a livestream on ODVA's Facebook page.
