Tom Andersen is seeking reelection to Oregon House District 19 in the November 3, 2026, general election. The official state ballot statement lists him on the Democratic, Independent and Working Families lines. Anna Munson is the Republican and Libertarian candidate.

Background and service

Andersen’s campaign biography describes eight years on Salem City Council, from 2014 to 2022, before his service as a state representative. He says he moved to Oregon in 1973 and graduated from the University of Oregon School of Law in 1976.

He describes public-interest legal work in Vermont, private litigation in Eugene, 19 years with the State Accident Insurance Fund Corporation and a subsequent workers’ compensation practice. His campaign says he retired from law practice in 2024. These are his own accounts of his experience.

Campaign priorities

Andersen’s campaign platform calls for additional affordable housing and shelter funding, sustained public-school investment, smaller classes, and affordable healthcare and prescription drugs.

He supports state resources for transit and pedestrian and cycling infrastructure in Salem. Other stated priorities include climate protection, reproductive healthcare, protections for LGBTQ Oregonians and stronger firearm purchase requirements. The platform presents these as proposals and descriptions of his legislative work, rather than independently established assessments of results.
