Oregon Hoopla XXVII wrapped up July 26, on the Capitol grounds in downtown Salem with a brand-new piece of tournament history.

Director Jason Unruh unveiled an all-time "Hater List" leaderboard ranking the event's winningest players across nearly three decades of streetball.

Salem standout Katie McWilliams and longtime participant Ryan Skinner top the inaugural list.

The 27th edition also marked the first time Hoopla returned to Court Street on the north side of the Capitol since 2022.

The building's seismic retrofit forced the tournament to State Street beginning in 2023, ending a run on the north side that dated to the event's founding in 1999.

The main 3-on-3 tournament took place Saturday, July 25, and Sunday, July 26, with The Gauntlet side event tipping off at 6 p.m. Saturday.

McWilliams, a South Salem High School alumna, led the Saxons to a 6A state championship in 2015 and earned Gatorade Player of the Year honors that season.

She finished her high school career with more than 1,400 points before starring at Oregon State, where she ranked fifth all-time in 3-point percentage and ninth in 3-pointers made in program history, according to the Statesman Journal.

Skinner has been a fixture at the tournament for years, though his full competitive background has not been detailed publicly.

Unruh created the Hater List to honor the players who have dominated Hoopla courts across the tournament's 27-year history, according to the Statesman Journal's Landon Bartlett, who reported on the new leaderboard Saturday, July 25.

The tournament has grown dramatically since 151 teams showed up for the inaugural event along Court Street in 1999. By 2023, Hoopla drew more than 1,000 teams, 4,000 participants and 700 volunteers, according to the City of Salem.

Streets around the Capitol complex closed Monday, July 20, through Sunday, July 26, to accommodate the courts and crowds this year.

No date has been announced for Hoopla XXVIII, which would be the tournament's 28th consecutive summer in downtown Salem.
