Nineteen Salem-area breweries, taprooms and bars are pouring special-priced beer, cider and cocktails through Saturday, Oct. 31, as part of Salem Brew Week.
The week-long event started Saturday, Oct. 24, and features a free digital passport that doubles as a raffle ticket, according to What's Happening Salem, which organized the celebration.
Visitors scan a QR code at each participating location to collect a stamp. No purchase is required.
Collect four or more stamps and the passport becomes an automatic raffle entry for prize bundles from participating businesses.
According to the event's passport site, the raffle winner will be selected Thursday, Nov. 5, and contacted by email.
The event also includes daily gift card giveaways on the @whatshappeningsalem Instagram story. Winners are picked from people posting about the event or a participating location.
Several special events fill out the remaining calendar. Xicha Brewing at 2195 Hyacinth St. NE hosts a Teacher Appreciation Night on Thursday, Oct. 29, starting at 7 p.m., with live band karaoke featuring Jon Chinburg. Attendees can buy a drink token and hand it to a teacher.
On Friday, Oct. 30, Xicha Brewing's North Salem Taproom holds a Don Pedro Tequila Tasting inspired by Día de los Muertos traditions. Chef Ricardo Antunez is preparing a menu pairing. Tickets are $100 each, and seating is limited to 20.
Saturday, Oct. 31, closes out the week with two events. A five-stop Zombie Crawl begins with check-in at 5:30 p.m. at Highdive and moves through Pintxos, Precious Pizza, Heit and Kraftworks Taphouse downtown. The crawl ends with a live DJ and costume contest at Kraftworks. Tickets include two drinks and crawler specials. Early bird tickets were $10, with prices rising to $15 closer to the event. The crawl is 21+.
Also on Saturday, Santiam Brewing's The BAD Space at 2572 19th St. SE hosts Time Warp Through the Decades starting at 8 p.m.
A 12-piece funk band called DTW plays Halloween hits, followed by a karaoke after-party. Drink specials include $4 20-oz. pints of Coal Porter and Moore Tangerine cider. Tickets are $16.50. That event is also 21+.
The full list of all 19 participating locations and their specials is available on the Salem Brew Week passport page. Organizers noted more spots may be added before the week ends.
