Marion County residents near Jackson Hill Road SE can weigh in on a proposed home-based automotive paint-stripping business at a public hearing Tuesday, August 4.

The Marion County Planning Commission is considering Case CU-26-020, a conditional use permit application to operate a dustless blasting paint removal business on a 1.51-acre parcel at 7611 Jackson Hill Rd SE, Salem.

The property is zoned AR (Acreage Residential). A first hearing took place Tuesday, July 21.

Dustless blasting uses water and abrasive media to strip paint and rust from vehicles. The commission will evaluate the proposal against county criteria including traffic, noise, and air-quality impacts on surrounding properties.

The August 4 hearing begins at 6:30 p.m. in the Senator Hearing Room, first floor of the Courthouse Square Building, 555 Court St NE, Salem.
