Oregon artists can submit knitting, weaving, quilting, embroidery and other fiber work for a juried exhibition opening Nov. 6 at Elsinore Framing and Fine Art Gallery on Ferry Street in downtown Salem.

Artists in Action, the Salem-based arts group organizing the show, is accepting online applications through Wednesday, Oct. 14. The exhibition runs through Nov. 28. Membership is not required.

The show also features an "Upcycled Creations" Fashion Show, where artists model outfits sewn from four pieces of used clothing. Runway judging takes place at 6 p.m. on opening night, with cash prizes of $300 for first place, $150 for second, $100 for third and $50 for People's Choice.

Fashion Show themes include a dream-job interview outfit, dinner with Liberace, a vacation in Iceland and a festival in Africa. The spirit of the event, according to the call for entries, is playful, imaginative and fun.

Award-winning textile artist Linda Jacobson will jury the exhibition. Jacobson is known for two-dimensional textile work inspired by nature, with a focus on color, texture and detail. Ribbon and monetary awards will be given in eight categories, including Best of Show, Best Original Design, Best Wearable and Best Use of Unconventional Material.

Artists may submit up to three works for the juried exhibition and up to four outfits for the Fashion Show. Fees are $30 for Artists in Action members, $40 for non-members and $20 for students up to age 25. One fee covers entry to either or both shows.

The opening night reception coincides with Salem's First Friday Art Walk on Nov. 6, running 5 to 8 p.m. at the gallery, 444 Ferry St. SE. The Regional Arts and Culture Council also listed the call, confirming the dates and venue.

Eligible techniques span knitting, weaving, quilting, embroidery, macramé, felting, rug hooking, lace making, basketry, sewing and papermaking.
