Pentacle Theatre announces 7 show 2027 season

Pentacle Theatre will stage seven productions in 2027, with a lineup that includes "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" in October and Jane Austen's "Pride and Prejudice" closing the season in November.

The volunteer-run nonprofit at 324 52nd Ave. NW announced the full season on Aug. 6. The season opens Jan. 29 with "The Man Who Came to Dinner," a screwball comedy by George S. Kaufman and Moss Hart directed by Scott Ramp, and closes Nov. 19 with "Pride and Prejudice."

Between those bookends: "Roald Dahl's Matilda The Musical" (opens March 19, running through April 10), "Bedroom Farce" (opens May 7), "Broadway Bound" (opens June 25), "Silent Sky" (opens Aug. 13) and "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" (opens Oct. 1).

Seven shows. That's a full calendar for Salem theater fans to plan around, and a lot of roles to fill for a company that runs entirely on volunteers.

The theater described the season as a mix of laughter, music, drama and spectacle in its Facebook announcement.

Season tickets and new fees

Season ticket holders get a 15% discount, saving as much as $46, and receive seven shows for the price of six. They also keep the same seats for every performance and pay no ticket exchange fees. New for 2027: single-ticket buyers will face a service fee, giving subscribers an added incentive to lock in early.

Executive director Steven Trahan and box office manager Kimberly Houser Taylor handle season operations from the downtown box office at 197 Liberty St. SE, open Wednesday through Sunday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tickets can also be purchased online at pentacletheatre.org or by calling (503) 485-4300.

Getting involved

Pentacle runs on volunteers. About 100 members of its hospitality guild usher, sell refreshments and staff the box office. Audition announcements for all 2027 productions are posted at pentacletheatre.org/auditions and on the theater's social media channels. All experience levels are welcome.

The theater has also expanded live captioning services through a partnership with Cue Captions, making shows more accessible to audience members who are deaf or hard of hearing.

What's still on stage

Before the 2027 season begins, Pentacle has one more 2026 production to catch. "Catch Me If You Can," directed by Wendy Boyack, runs Aug. 14 through Sept. 5 at the 52nd Avenue theater.
