Pride in the Park returns to Riverfront Park on Saturday, Sept. 19, with more than 200 booths for Salem Capital Pride's 49th year.

The free festival runs from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at 200 Water St. N.E. and features queer vendors, free resources, food and live entertainment. Performers include an Irish dance troupe, a Portland pop-punk band and local drag queens Lylac, RiRi Calienté and Miss Jaxon, according to a roundup by Salem Reporter's Hailey Cook.

Four other events fill the weekend across the city.

Reflections on the River: Thursday, Sept. 17

Willamette Vital Health, formerly Willamette Valley Hospice, hosts its 9th annual Reflections on the River at Riverfront Park from 7:30 to 9 p.m.

The community grief gathering includes a luminaria-lit river walk and a reflective labyrinth for people remembering loved ones who have passed.

Celtic dancing at Salem Saturday Market: Saturday, Sept. 19

The Céilí of the Valley Society brings a free Celtic dance demonstration to the Salem Saturday Market at 865 Marion St. N.E. starting at 10 a.m. for National Dance Day.

The hour-long workshop welcomes all ages and skill levels.

Cherry City Roller Derby season opener: Saturday, Sept. 19

Cherry City Roller Derby, a Salem-based nonprofit, opens its 17th season with a doubleheader at The Madhouse, 1335 Madison St. N.E.

Doors open at 3:30 p.m. The junior bout starts at 4:30 p.m. and the adult bout follows at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $12 presale at zeffy.com, $15 at the door or $16 by credit card. Children 5 and under get in free. A $30 family pass covers two tickets plus all kids in the household.

Star Wars Oregon brings character actors to Salem's Riverfront Carousel, 101 Front St. N.E., from 1 to 3 p.m. for a back-to-school event. Stormtroopers, Princess Leia and Darth Vader will be on hand for meet-and-greets and photos. A discounted 10-rides pass is available for $15.
