A new fitness studio on Salem's east side is offering free kickboxing classes every Monday night.
Victory Round, at 4175 Silverton Rd NE, held its ribbon-cutting July 31 and is now open for business. Co-owners Deanna Tapia and Noe Ramirez built the studio around affordable one-on-one training sessions and group kickboxing workouts.
Tapia is no stranger to Salem's small-business scene. She also owns Professional Interpreters, a language interpretation company she founded in 2007 that operates from the same Silverton Road address, and she runs a third business, an event venue in Salem, making Victory Round her third active enterprise in the city.
The Salem Area Chamber of Commerce announced the opening Wednesday, Aug. 12, describing Victory Round as a new fitness, training and community space for Salem.
Victory Round enters a growing local fitness market. Crunch Fitness is planning a $5 million, roughly 50,000-square-foot facility on Lancaster Drive NE, while locally owned Physiq Fitness operates six Oregon locations. Victory Round's pitch is smaller-scale and personal: the studio's website describes high-energy kickboxing equipment with options to punch, kick or lift.
The free Monday classes start at 6:30 p.m. Residents can RSVP by phone or email through VictoryRound.com.
